On 4 December 2009, the Royal Thai Embassy celebrated the auspicious occasion of the 82nd Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King of Thailand.

In the morning, the Embassy organized a religious as well as a candle-lighting ceremony in honour of His Majesty the King. About one hundred of Thai nationals living in New Delhi and nearby areas joined the ceremony.

In the afternoon, the Embassy hosted a reception whereby approximately 600 members of diplomatic corps and Indian dignitaries joined. This year the Embassy was honored by the presence of H.E. Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for External Affairs, as Chief Guest.

The Thai agencies in New Delhi, namely Office of the Defence and Naval Attache, Office of the Air Attache, Office of Commercial Affairs, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways International Public Co.Ltd., worked closely with the Embassy as a “team Thailand” to make this event successful. Apart from Thai agencies, Thai private company doing business in India including Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited, Thai Summit Neel Auto Pvt.Ltd., C.P. Aquaculture (India) Limited as well as Bangkok One restaurants also helped the Embassy in organizing the event by setting up booths for serving Thai food to the guests.
