On 22-24 February 2010, at the invitation of H.E. Chowna Mein, Minister of Public Health, Engineering and Water Supply of Arunachal Pradesh, H.E. Mr. Krit Kraichitti, Ambassador of Thailand, along with his wife and Embassy officials, attended the dedication ceremony of the Golden Pagoda, Buddha Scriptures and Monastery in Chongkham, Arunachal Pradesh. Over 160 international Buddhist monks from all over India, including 15 Thai monks, participated in this religious ceremony. The Ambassador, on behalf of the Chief Abbot of Wat Thai Buddhagaya and Chief Abbot of Wat Thai Kusinara Chalermraj, offered a Buddha Image and monk robes to the monastery.
The Ambassador and his delegation visited Itanagar on 24-25 February 2010 as guests of the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. The Ambassador had a fruitful meeting with Gen. J.J. Singh, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, on 24 February 2010, during which they discussed ways to promote cooperation between Thailand and Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in the areas of transport linkages and Buddhist circuit tourism, given that Thailand and Arunachal Pradesh have very close cultural ties. The Ambassador also met with the Secretary of Tourism of Arunachal Pradesh. They agreed to jointly promote tourism between Thailand and the North Eastern Region of India.
